Krantz & Mociun

Seattle-based artist Katy Krantz has a degree in studio art and an MFA in painting, but in 2009, she began experimenting with ceramics, curious to see what her collages would look like as three-dimensional objects. A solo exhibition at Iko Iko in Los Angeles followed, and a group show in Brooklyn led to her current collaboration with RISD grad Caitlin Mociun, who’s best known for her cool-girl fine jewelry, Bauhaus-inspired textile prints, and collaborations with fellow Brooklyn designers Shabd and Baggu. Via the internet and the U.S. postal service, the two create mixed-media statement pieces, with Krantz providing the ceramic beads and Mociun the textured brass parts.

Shop

The Sight Unseen shop is dedicated to the sale of handmade and one-of-a-kind wearables by artists and designers, who approach those objects as a platform for experimenting with materials and techniques. Curators Monica Khemsurov and Jill Singer are the co-founders of Sight Unseen, an online magazine that documents the studios, homes, and inspirations of creatives.
