ROLU

Minneapolis natives Mike Brady and Matt Olson founded ROLU together in 2003, but spent seven years doing minimalist landscaping projects before they began making the plywood chairs that have since earned them a spot on the American design map. They credit all that time working with dirt, though, for inspiring the love for simple, organic materials that drives their furniture practice, which tends towards strong geometric compositions inspired by conceptual art and modernist sculpture. Having geared their studio from day one towards open-ended inquiries and cross-disciplinary explorations, ROLU jumped at the chance to develop their first jewelry project for the Sight Unseen shop, a series of four necklaces in plywood (natch) that reference the work of artist Guy de Cointet.
