In her most recent creations, Aguiñiga’s rope necklaces have become less like summer camp and more like sculpture: Her Center Necklace, accented with manufacturing waste like leather offcuts and reclaimed copper tubing, has a muted neutral palette that makes it wearable but a textural complexity that makes it art. (Note that according to Aguiñiga, this piece can be easily cleaned using Woolite and a toothbrush!)
