While these so-called “weapons” are intended merely as decorative conversation pieces, they were inspired by Chen’s experience in middle school where a friend made an actual weapon by stringing a padlock from a piece of lanyard. They also reference the history of weapons as men’s accessories, and their woven-hemp or neon-rope handles look mighty fine dangling from the back pocket of a pair of jeans.
