Wing Yau may have learned the tools of her trade studying sculpture at RISD, but her interest in handcraft goes all the way back to a childhood spent trailing along with her mother to crafts markets in places like Papua New Guinea and Peru, where she lived as a teen. Now a fulltime jewelry-maker in the Pacific Northwest, Yau recently debuted a line of sophisticated rope jewelry whose intricate handwork echoes the craftsmanship witnessed in her youth.
