Twin Within

This collaboration between Reykjavík-based sisters Áslaug Iris Katrin Fridjonsdottir and Kristin Mariella Fridjonsdottir, has its roots — as so many of our products do — in art. Says Áslaug, an artist and graphic designer who trained at New York’s School of Visual Arts: “I was gathering materials to use in a sculpture I was making for a show in Iceland. I was going to all sorts of boat stores and hardware stores and that’s where I saw all these brightly colored ropes and immediately thought of using them in jewelry making.” She showed them to her sister, a viola player who also worked in the fashion industry, and a partnership was born. Their first collection, inspired by these industrial materials, is made by hand in Iceland, and we’re featuring three of our favorite styles here.
