A weave pattern for jacquard. “Color is a goofy thing for me,” says Matson, who sketches out her pieces in watercolor or colored pencil. “I use it as a placeholder. When I’m working on a sketch, maybe I’m using orange, but that doesn’t mean when I weave it will actually be orange. Orange is just a place where I say, okay, that’s where my third weft comes in, or, I want to have this kind of weave structure in there.”
