One interesting story likened the process to a genre of 19th-century tintypes that were called “hidden mother portraits,” where the mother would hide under a cloak with the baby on her lap, in order to get the baby to sit for a long exposure. I thought that was flattering and one of the more interesting critiques of the work.”
