“Color was really the genesis of those jars,” says Fiess. “I wanted a form that I could repeat and then apply a lot of different colors to, in order to see how they worked together and how I could make colors on various textures.” Fiess tests all of his glazes on a flat surface like the one above as well as a textured one, so he can gather information about both.
