Fiess uses these small balls to reference colors, “but I really like them as little objects, too” he says. He says his color sense is more influenced by European or Japanese ceramics than anything American, but he’s more apt to cite things like Anni Albers and Marimekko as inspirations. “I think my interest definitely stems more from things outside of ceramics.”
