The Best of Milan Design Week 2018, Part II — Salone del Mobile
As we stated yesterday, this year marked our tenth anniversary of attending design week in Milan, and while sometimes we do have existential moments while making our way through the mind-bending sprawl of the Salone del Mobile fairgrounds — when we stop to photograph a chair for the umpteenth time and think, how on earth did we end up doing this for a living? — we always manage to find something new and inspiring there every year. (Or in the case of some of our favorite reissues below, something old and inspiring.) The best takeaway from the fair this year was probably Glas Italia‘s new collection, which is so perfect it hurts. The worst? A serious lack of notable work by women other than Patricia Urquiola. In 2018, that was hard to see. Maybe by 2028 big brands will have started reading Sight Unseen and realizing how many other incredible female talents are out there. We can only hope.
