Coil + Drift

For his new collection, Coil + Drift’s John Sorensen-Jolink decided to dig into his archives and reinterpret existing designs — some in production, and others that had never seen the light of day. Called Hone, the intent was to refine his original designs and make them better while always staying grounded in human connection. His Talon Chair, for example, which was never produced until now and is upholstered in golden mohair, is like the cozy embrace you deserve at the end of a long day. His Hover Shelving, originally designed in 2014 and made from iron piping and salvaged wood, is now comprised of machined-brass pins and shaped hardwood shelves. And the studio’s new Ren Table, which originally featured a traditional skirt, has a simpler and more honest profile.
