Studiopepe’s New Rugs for Muuto Were Inspired by 1960s-Style Land Art

Muuto is such a staple of the Scandinavian design set that it’s hard to believe the Danish company is only now releasing its first tufted rug collection. A new collaboration with Milan-based duo Studiopepe is exactly what we’d hoped for from both. Using the “tension" between Scandinavian and Italian design as a starting point, studio founders Arianna Lelli Mami and Chiara Di Pinto combined common features of both: high-quality materials, graphic shapes, and simple yet impactful gestures, which in this instance meant filleting one of the rug’s four corners.

This Agnes Martin–Inspired Boutique Takes Nude Tones to New Levels

“A performance by Vanessa Beecroft or a painting by Agnes Martin” are comparisons that Studiopepe founders Ariana Lelli Mami and Chiara Di Pinto make to their boutique for fashion curator Avart — by which they mean it’s calming and welcoming, but with a strong, proud presence. Located under the arcade of Lugano’s Via Canova, the interior takes nude tones to new levels through micro-sand surfaces that blanket the walls, floors, ceiling, and a helical staircase that provides a sculptural focal point for the store.

Preview Studiopepe’s Immersive Installation For the 2019 Milan Fair, Inspired by Tarot Cards and Divination

Studiopepe's installation Club Unseen, at last year's Milan design week, was the perfect setting in which to experience design in the way it's meant to be experienced. Which is why we're excited to announce that during next month's fair, Studiopepe will stage a second presentation with the same immersive feel. Called Les Arcanistes, it will feature new ceramic tiles by Studiopepe for Bardelli, new colorways of the pair's Pastilles furniture for Tacchini, and lighting by one of our favorite brands, Areti, in a presentation exploring "the interplay between matter and divination."
