The Sight Unseen Art Kitchen, Plus Nine Other Incredible Rooms We Created For the SU x Lightology Country House

Upstate New York is one of our favorite places — close in proximity to one of the world’s greatest cities, but so very far away in every other respect. It’s stopping at a renowned sculpture park on your way to stay at an old barn surrounded by meadows, or hiking up a hill and jumping in a lake, or spending the day reading amongst the trees without another human in sight, then having an incredible farm-to-table meal in a celebrated restaurant down the road. In September, we rented a truck and drove up to a picturesque town outside Hudson, excited to do something we love doing almost as much as all of those other activities: styling a photo shoot inside a gorgeous home. For our second collaboration with the online lighting and furniture retailer Lightology, we traded the sleek minimalism and desert sun of Palm Springs for the charm of a (recently renovated) 1980s woodland escape — one whose blue floors, vaulted ceilings, and circular windows served as the perfect backdrop for the Sight Unseen x Lightology take on a country home.

In this shoot, some of Lightology’s best furniture, lighting, and rugs — from the likes of Kristina Dam, &Tradition, Audo CPH, Lasvit, Oluce, Gubi, and more — formed the backbone of each room, while vintage artwork curated by us from the collection of gallerist Gillian Bryce, an Instagram must-follow, gave the spaces their finishing touches. One of our favorite moments in the shoot was when we found the perfect painting and sculpture to pull the kitchen’s mix of woods and colors together, then christened the unusual setup the “Sight Unseen art kitchen” — because if you’ve got personality throughout the rest of your home, why should your kitchen be any exception? Let it be fodder for your mood boards, along with all of the other great Lightology finds we brought to life below.
