This Colorful Studio Just Launched Their Darkest Collection Yet

Did you know there was a 100% Design South Africa? We didn’t! That is, until we caught wind of the work coming out of it by one of our favorite studios, Dokter & Misses (who we first featured way back in 2011). At the show, which ran from August 9-13, the Johannesburg-based duo launched three new projects — two of which represent an aesthetic leap from their typically colorful aesthetic. For Caesarstone, the two launched Domino, a collection of monolithic, glass and stone lights, as well as new takes on a low zigzag table and curved-base dining table. For an exhibition called We Are Joburg, they created Moonjelly, a Dalí-esque series of lamps that slump recycled glass orbs over steel structures. And to celebrate their 10th anniversary, the two presented a sustainable reimagining of the very first chair they designed in 2007. Called The Blue Chair, the new chair recasts an iconic steel seat in American tulipwood, creating a softer, more ergonomic piece. Check out some of our favorite new pieces below.
