To help launch its new Platinum Rare Haute-Rejuvenation collection, the Swiss beauty brand La Prairie asked Sight Unseen to commission a series of animated cinemagrams that could be propagated across social channels. We worked with longtime collaborator Lauren Coleman to conceptualize the three main ideas that drive the collection: Gravity, for which Coleman created the illusion of a bottle hovering in mid-air; Science, which Coleman illustrated via pink liquid cascading through a spiral distiller; and Platinum, in this case visually represented by a chunk of gallium, a metal with such a low melting point that Coleman could mold it into a diamond shape and then document its transformation into a mesmerizing mirrored puddle.
