This Vancouver-Based Lifestyle and Floral Shop is At Once Unruly and Refined

Cadine is a new, Vancouver-based lifestyle shop that sells art, books, housewares, clothing, fine jewelry, and, right in the middle of it all, hand-picked and assembled floral art arrangements. Florals, which can be wet, messy work, presented a logistical challenge for the Vancouver-based interiors studio behind the shop, Ste Marie, but they also provided the main source of inspiration for the space. The gentle curves found throughout are meant to evoke a frond swaying in the wind, while organic forms typically found in nature are replicated in the material choices and millwork details. An abundance of textures, from sanded wall paint to leathered granite to brass accents create a kind of cinematic dynamism in the space, a hallmark of Ste Marie’s founder Craig Stanghetta, who began his career in film and set design.
