Our New Secret Source for Amazing — and Affordable — Rugs
A few years ago, we were asked by one of the glossy magazines to name our go-to source for amazing, affordable rugs. (Never mind that we silently laughed to ourselves about being named decorating experts, since our site runs more often towards $19,000 coffee-table tastes). At the time, we cited Rugs USA as the place to buy insanely cheap, reasonable facsimiles of ultra-trendy rugs — think Beni Ourains or overdyed Turkish kilims that look great in photographs, but won’t exactly be passed down as heirlooms.
But lately we’ve found ourselves scouring another extremely unlikely source for textile gems: The Land Of Nod, heretofore a place we’ve gone only to score things for Sight Unseen’s kiddie contingent, has been seriously upping its design game lately, collaborating for its spring collection with Sight Unseen favorites like Baggu, Dusen Dusen, and Eric Trine. The rugs are graphic, colorful, and well-made, often tapping well-known artists like Dee Clements and Ashley Goldberg for their textile or pattern expertise. We’ve rounded up 10 of our favorites here, but there are so many more where this came from.
