Arlo Skye x Sight Unseen suitcase

Like Sight Unseen? You’ll Love the New Suitcase We Designed With Arlo Skye

For years, people had been asking us when Sight Unseen might start getting into products. But what would we make? Tastemakers, we may be; designers, we are not. Then, earlier this year, we were approached by Arlo Skye, a new luggage company founded by alums from Tumi and Louis Vuitton, about collaborating on a limited-edition suitcase that would help launch their new, lightweight polycarbonate line. This, we could do — using our trend-forecasting skills to alight upon a hue that was both forward-looking and easy to carry, and our talent-scouting abilities to select an amazing, but relatively unknown, illustrator to create a graphic for the interior lining.

Today, we are excited to launch our first-ever product: the Arlo Skye x Sight Unseen suitcase, a carry-on and check-in available exclusively in sage, our pick for the next big color trend. (Don’t believe it’s about to become ubiquitous? Check out the inspiration pinboard we made here.) A pastel interior lining print, created by Finnish illustrator Antti Kekki — who we’ll be featuring more in-depth next week — fittingly takes its cues from travel itself: “This print is inspired by Helsinki’s cobblestone streets and undiscovered pastry shops — and getting lost along the way,” Kekki says.

Here are some things we love about this suitcase: one-touch aluminum locks that click the suitcase closed, rather than a zipper that might get stuck on your silks; crazy-quiet wheels; an anti-odor lining; and, in the carry-on, an easily removable dual-port USB charger that fast charges your phone and a laptop at the same time. But mostly we love how it will allow you to take the Sight Unseen aesthetic with you, wherever you go (we can’t wait to take ours to Milan next year). Both suitcases are now available for pre-order for shipping in early December — head on over to the Arlo Skye website to snag yours before they sell out!
