The Designer Behind Your Favorite Shell-Shaped Accessories Just Dropped a New Collection

Where do you go when your last collection captured the Zeitgeist to a T? That’s the dilemma that faced Rosa Rubio of the Barcelona-based Los Objetos Decorativos, whose saturated pastel ceramic seashell vases and catchalls went epically viral when they were released two years ago. For her latest collection, Rubio turned to another material that’s been trending — colored glass — and again made it her own. Rubio designed the pieces — available in smoked tobacco, creamy yellow, and pearlescent white — in 3D, then worked with the artist Ferràn Collado at his workshop in Barcelona to achieve production-ready pieces. Each piece is composed in two parts: The first is blown around a graphite mold, while the slumping necks are bent and blown by hand. The result is a series of sculptures that capture the tension between the geometric and the organic. And while Rubio’s shop is currently closed due to the pandemic, you can sign up here for updates to be the first to get your hands on these beauties.
