Inside the Soviet-Style Homes of Georgian Duo Rooms, As Shot By T Magazine

Earlier this month, the Tbilisi, Georgia–based design duo Rooms had their 18th- and 19th-century homes shot for T Magazine's Greats issue, with results so lovely we immediately asked for permission to reprint all the outtakes. Iacoli & McAllister’s New Collection is a Stellar Evolution

Sometimes, the stars align and you get this: a collaboration between one of our favorite furniture designers (Iacoli & McAllister), the most inventive glass artist we know (John Hogan), and a photographer who's quickly becoming the design world's ace in the hole (Charlie Schuck). But in this case, those stars are literal as well as metaphorical: The new collections shown here today by Iacoli & McAllister are named after specific stars in the zodiac constellations.

We Spent Two Months With 12 Artists in a Tuscan Paradise

When you tell people that you just got back from a two-month stay in a 19th-century Tuscan villa with three swimming pools where you had your own artist's studio and a gourmet chef cooking you dinner every night, the first thing they tend to do is giggle: It sounds like you're making it up. But the Villa Lena is no fairy tale, it's a very real place with a very real residency program that we participated in this summer, and documented here with the help of Berlin art director Sarah Illenberger.

Our Fall Pop-Up at Space Ninety 8

Having branched into retail three years ago with the Sight Unseen Shop — plus a few pop-ups along the way — we can definitively say that the only thing better than buying beautiful objects for ourselves is putting them out into the world for the enjoyment of others. When Marissa Maximo, curator of Space Ninety 8 in Williamsburg, offered us 500 square feet in which to host an event for the month of September, we figured it was the perfect opportunity to bring the work of some of our favorite makers — most of it destined for our fall shop collection — to a much wider audience. Designed by Syrette Lew of Moving Mountains and on view now through October 5, the pop-up consists both of items we admire (Pat Kim's Soap on a Rope, Heddle & Needle's wall weavings) and items we've commissioned exclusively for the Sight Unseen Shop (Ian Anderson's Oden pitchers, Sandwich Shop's Shapes Vase and Two-Tone Artifact Mug). In Masquespacio's latest project, the Spanish consultancy was charged with redesigning the identity and reinventing four products for the Barcelonan lighting brand Raco — as well as designing their own — infusing the Spanish lighting brand with a new sense of cool.

Inside the Quirky, Vintage-Inspired Home of Two Epic Design Collectors

We featured Wary Meyers' incredible trove of finds in our 2012 book Paper View, and we were delighted to see some of those items pop up in the house tour Curbed published this week, including the Alex Tavoularis painting Linda's parents picked up at a Florida estate sale and the abstract canvases John was creating at the time. We've been tracking their home — a 1960s-era ranch that was renovated in the '80s — on Instagram since the couple bought it three years ago, and these pictures show the space in its full glory.

At the Biennale Interieur Kortrijk 2016

Situated less than two hours by train from both London and Paris — but without the steep costs of either — Belgium is an ideal place to do business, which is probably why the Kortrijk furniture fair has been going strong for 25 years as of this week. Other good reasons: Maniera, Muller Van Severen, Sylvain Willenz, and all the other local creative powerhouses who pitch in to make it interesting.

Ria Leigh’s Pottery Is Part Ancient, Part Avant-Garde

So much of the neo-ceramics movement over the past few years has focused on the medium's graphic aspects — how to slab-build the most intricate geometric shapes, or how to apply the most avant-garde patterning — that it's sometimes easy to forget just how primordial and organic a process creating pottery really is. Ria Leigh, a Seattle-based ceramicist who also works in textiles and painting, somehow makes work that easily straddles the two aesthetics.
