Buying One of These Affordable Artist Editions Will Go to Help a Major Humanitarian Crisis
It’s something we’ve (happily) seen more and more of over the past few years — designers and creatives harnessing their talents (and audiences) to actually make a difference in the world. We did it with our Design for Progress initiative, and we just saw Uprise Art do something similar with their Kristin Texeira prints to benefit She Should Run. Now we’ve gotten word of a massive effort in Australia to raise money for the humanitarian crisis in Yemen, where as many as 8 million children under the age of 5 are malnourished. Called Pattern for Yemen, the initiative was organized by A Friend of Mine and The Souvenir Society, who asked 15 major artists to create an artwork on cloth in an edition of 50 — including a wash of green ink from Ronan Bouroullec, an exploded geometry by Nathalie Du Pasquier, colorful grids by Darkroom designer Rhonda Drakeford, a blocky composition by Michael Wall, and more. One of each will be framed and auctioned off at the opening party in Melbourne next month, but the rest are for sale — and surprisingly affordable — via this link (though hurry, they’re already selling out!)
