Having studied ceramics in college, Virginia-born designer Forrest Lewinger was working as an assistant to a ceramicist in New York City when — on his lunch hour — he began making small, oddly shaped vessels that he glazed matte blue, just a touch brighter than the Yves Klein shade. Friends began asking for them, and soon, they were popping up on Instagram, which is where we found and fell in with them. Since then he’s been experimenting with confetti dots, tortoiseshell, and — our personal favorite — marbling.
