Print All Over Me x Sight Unseen
Back in December, we embarked on an experimental curatorial collaboration with Print All Over Me, the amazing print-your-own-pattern service, founded by fashion designer Jesse Finkelstein and his sister, Meredith, that allows designers to upload any graphic they please onto fashionable white blanks — sweatshirts, bomber jackets, shift dresses, backpacks, leggings, and more. The project — for which we hand-selected illustrators like Will Bryant, Tim Colmant, and Clay Hickson — was such a rousing success that Jesse approached us for round two a few months ago. We were already 100 percent sold on the idea, thinking we could sell the results at a pop-up at our Sight Unseen OFFSITE event — which opens today at noon! — when Jesse casually emailed this bomb: “Hey! Let’s also talk about print all over furniture!”
Needless to say, the resulting project — for which we asked a selection of designers to create clothing graphics while also pairing illustrators with some of our favorite furniture designers — is one of the best we’ve ever worked on. For the clothing series, we asked Camille Walala, Louie Rigano, and Saskia Pomeroy to apply all-over prints to bomber jackets, dresses, T-shirts, backpacks, and more. For the furniture series, we approached some of our favorite talents to collaborate on pieces for the show. British graphic designer Damien Correll created a squiggly blue pattern for the leather sling seat of a brand-new wooden chair by Fort Standard, while clothing designer Ellen Van Dusen lent one of her colorful geometric prints to new outdoor seats by Eric Trine. Seattle designer Erich Ginder modified his faceted Dot/Dash lamp to display a digital illustration by Santtu Mustonen, and Will Bryant worked on his own to create a series of custom beanbag chairs created by the PAOM team.
The Print All Over Me X Sight Unseen pop-up shop opens today at noon at Sight Unseen OFFSITE, taking place May 16-20 at 200 Lafayette Street in New York’s Soho neighborhood. For more information, please visit offsite.sightunseen.com
