Closing this Sunday is an exhibition in Los Angeles, called SIZED, that aims — as LA residents emerge into a newly reopened city — to recapture some of the magic of in-person, pre-pandemic events. Curated by Alexander May of Offsite.Studio, with all items available to purchase, the exhibition gathers together hundreds of objects that address our desire to collect.

This Mexico City–Based Designer Just Wants His Furniture and Interiors to Make You Feel Something

When I ask the Mexico City-based designer Andrés Gutiérrez what he hopes to achieve in his work, his answer, to be honest, makes me a bit emotional: “To make people feel something… If someone has a good time, or a better day in one of the spaces I helped to design, it’s all worth it.” How could you not catch feelings? Peppering his delightfully sensory portfolio are expanses of highly saturated tiled surfaces, an interior splashed in a hue best described as ube, and oversized wooden furniture with deliciously smooth knobs begging to be touched.

Quarantine Crafts? This Dutch Design Student Built a Whole Debut Collection During Our Year of Solitude

Now that we’re a year out from some of the strictest COVID-19 lockdowns, we’re noticing that many of the projects we’re finding are a direct response to those long weeks of solitude. Our latest find, though, doesn't even have a full-fledged studio yet, being still a student at the Design Academy Eindhoven: Pepijn Fabius Clovis used his time away from campus to design and produce an entire collection for the Dutch furnishings shop Homestock.

Stylist Logan Reulet’s hyperminimal, clean-lined, über-serene rental home in Salt Lake City is like a living piece of art, subtly infused with meaning and character. From the crisp ivory bed linens, to the cream Nordic Knots rug, to the miraculously pristine white furnishings — like Urbana’s shapely Centipede Bench, which dominates the living room — not one surface is darker than the soft touch of ecru or the odd coffee tone.

The Designer Making Chairs From Discarded Puffy Coats

If you're like me — and by that I mean you spent a very cold, COVID-filled winter socializing outside — you might be ready to never see a padded puffy coat again. But I was thoroughly charmed by the work of South Korean designer Jinyeong Yeon, who uses padded goose down jackets, which remained unsold by fashion brands and manufacturers, as upholstery for his series of puffy chairs.

Step Inside Object & Thing, An Intimate Art Exhibit at the 1955 Home Gerald Luss Built for Himself

The new Object & Thing exhibition, created in collaboration with Blum & Poe and Mendes Wood DM at the Gerald Luss House in Ossining, New York, opened on May 7. Since then, I've basically treated it like the design equivalent of the Mare of Easttown finale, trying to shield myself from spoilers on social media until I could visit in person last Friday. And yet, when I got there, I realized that this was a relatively pointless task: No image can replicate the feeling of stillness that comes from being inside a house that's as well-considered as the Luss House, and no Instagram tour can capture all the details that make this particular collaboration so satisfying.
