Muuto’s Ultra-Chubby Kink Vase and Tableau’s Art Florals Are a Match Made in Heaven

When American-born, Rotterdam-based designer Rachel Griffin of Earnest Studio launched her ceramic Kink Vase during New York Design Week two years ago, it became something of an instant icon. This, of course, was just as the appetite for so-called "chubby design" was reaching its frenzied peak, and the Kink, with its double-mouthed, binoculars-on-a-marshmallow-bender form was perfect fodder. Lucky for us, the vase was recently picked up by Muuto, where it will sell for just $200 and still be available in that cozy sky blue.

Starting At Noon Today, Snag One of These Experimental Glass Vessels for Under a Grand

This week, Artsy ran an article entitled "To Attract Young Collectors, Auction Houses Tap Rock Stars, Sneakerheads, and a Spice Girl." But Canadian designer Jeff Martin is taking a slightly more subtle tack: Starting today at noon, Martin is dropping a collection of small and "extra-medium" glass objects on the new webshop for his Excavated Vessels line, which we wrote about earlier last year. While Martin's larger vessels can go for as much as $12,000 depending on the scale and complexity of the work, nothing in this collection with be over $1,000, inclusive of shipping and taxes

Franz West’s Hyper-Colorful Chairs Are At the Top of Our Fantasy Furniture Wishlist

It's gift guide season, and if our budget this year was $12,000 instead of $200, we would definitely be buying someone we love one of the new Franz West chairs available at David Zwirner as part of their latest online Viewing Room exhibition. The late Austrian-born artist was not known for making especially functional furniture, but these chairs might be the closest he came to pure design.

A Limited-Edition Furniture Set for Collectors of Small Objects — AKA All of Us

The Italian design duo Zanellato Bortotto set out to produce a series of works dedicated to collectors and their passion for objects, with metal pieces produced by De Castelli and a rug from cc-tapis. The result is ‘Labirinti,’ a range of six pieces that nod to cabinets of curiosity; even empty, they each possess a magnetism that calls out to be filled.

This Dutch Artist’s Warped Archival Photos Are the Break From Reality We Need Right Now

When I first discovered the Dutch artist Koen Hauser, and his Skulptura series in particular, I viewed his work as an escape — moments of disrupted reality, primarily in the form of warps and swirls edited into photos of artworks and artifacts taken from old books and museum archives. And I liked it not only because it was weird and disorienting, but because I had rarely seen that kind of technique deployed to such beautiful effect. Yet there's actually more going on in Hauser's images.

You know a store interior is good when you want to take all of the furnishings that aren't for sale home with you. Max Lamb's rugs for Acne come to mind, as do the oxblood leather ottomans at Rachel Comey's Charles de Lisle–designed NYC flagship. You can now add to that list Projekt Produkt, a South Korean optometry store designed by the Korean-born, Mälmo, Sweden–based designer Kunsik Choi.

For its debut, the new Korean lighting brand AGO has collaborated with designers from Korea, Switzerland, and Sweden to present eight collections that blur the lines between residential and contract. Each AGO collection has a distinct personality, from the elegant Bell by JWDA — a spotlight that brings a friendly form to traditionally cold track lighting — to the Mozzi by BYMARS, whose gentle dimple recalls lightly-poked mochi.
