Katy Krantz

Seattle-based artist Katy Krantz has a degree in studio art and an MFA in painting, but in 2009, she began experimenting with ceramics, curious to see what her collages would look like as three-dimensional objects. By the time she scored a solo exhibition at Iko Iko in Los Angeles in 2010, she was hooked on the medium, and has continued using it to experiment with vessels, jewelry, and sculptures ever since. Her objects and installations document a turbulent and playful process of making that relies on chance, surprise, and the transformation of material.
